Welcome to You and Your Money. Empowering you to reach your goals with tips to help you Plan Well, Invest Well and Live Well. I'm Jim Zahansky, principal, managing partner and chief goal strategist at Weiss, Hale and Zahansky Strategic Wealth Advisors. Now on to today's topic. Joining us today are the managing partners of Weiss, Hale and Zahansky Strategic Wealth Advisors Laurence Hale. Good morning, Laurence. Morning, Gary. Glad you’re here today. James Zahansky. Jim, good morning to you. Morning, Gary. Tell us what's happening. Well, I think you've already heard, but we're really thrilled to share with your listeners that we've opened a second office in Tolland over at Twin Pond Center at 392a Merrow Road. Congratulations on that office. Thanks, Gary. We've actually had our team working out in Tolland since shortly after the new year, but we officially opened it and announced the new office at that ribbon cutting on the 15th, which was a fantastic event. It was a great experience and a wonderful way to celebrate a really big milestone for the growth of our firm. Yeah, it really was an awesome time and it was great to see how Tolland and the folks in that whole county, Mansfield, Hebron, Vernon, Ellington, they all sort of welcomed us into that area and as a community. Clearly, though, we're still going to be based here in Pomfret, as we have been since 2006, serving clients in 25 states. So Laurence and I will will share some time between both venues. But we're really excited to have an additional office out in the Tolland market in Tolland County. Serving our clients that are already there and and many more to come. Again, congratulations on the growth and we are cheering for you. I'm a fan, I like the vibe at Weiss, Hale and Zahansky. Specifically the way you give back to organizations here in northeastern Connecticut. And I'm sure you'll be extending that part of your business out to a Tolland as well. It's great the way you guys create your personal relationships with your clients no matter where they are, even across 25 states. But becoming an active part of a community where you also have a physical presence, it adds another level of partnership in the region, doesn't it? Yeah. I mean, both Laurence and I believe, you know, you have to be when you're part of a community, you have to be in the community. And, you know, I think at our ribbon cutting, it was sort of an example of that, right? It was co-hosted by the Northeast Connecticut Chamber of Commerce. So, Betty Kuszaj was out there and then the Tolland Chamber of Commerce co-hosted it. Melissa Smith is executive director over there. They came together to host us. And, you know, we cut the ribbon. My sissors worked, Laurence’s didn't. But mine were bigger. Yeah, exactly. Don't run with those scissors, whatever you do. You know. But I would tell you, we also had, aside from our amazing team out there, I mean, believe it or not, we now have five wonderful advisors, you know, three with CFPs, team of 13. But we're also pleased to have a number of legislators out there from both Tolland and the Pomfret community. So, Senator Dr. Jeff Gordan, Tammy Nuccio, Representative Ackert, of course, Pat Boyd, Representative Pat Boyd from the Pomfret market. They all kind of came together. We also had Tolland Town manager Brian Foley. So really a wonderful showing for our commitment to growing into that market. But also just sort of looking at how businesses expand and we were real pleased to have those legislators there as well. Laurence why the second office, what's up? Well, you know, we've been growing pretty rapidly over the last few years, which we're so proud and happy of. And, you know, one practical consideration of growth is we needed some more space. So not only for our team to work, but to meet comfortably with clients. And that was one of our main goals and making sure that the Tolland space was really welcoming and reflected just how warm and welcoming we are as a team to all of our clients and to the community. So for those clients who live close enough, we really like having in-person meetings and occasionally will host events. So I know we've seen you at our office at some events here and there. They're usually a good time, so we wanted to make sure that Tolland reflected that and had the same kind of feel and comfort. And with so many clients here in the quiet corner, we also have a lot of clients in eastern and central Connecticut, and this gives them a more central location to come experience our plan, invest and live well process and be comfortable and our team to be comfortable as well. Yeah, Jim drill down on that too. Just being in that another region, that's an important part of your growth and to be represented there, right? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, you know, obviously as our footprint grows, we've been, you know, really committed and obviously the new office has been in the works for a while. I mean, it's been part of our growth strategy. And, you know, one thing that we've been trying to really focus on that Laurence and I have been, as we've built this roadmap for growth, is something we call quality focused growth. So Laurence mentioned, you know, our process is is is really unique in the sense that we're planning well with clients. We're listening to them about what their needs are, how to build a financial plan. We're building an investment strategy, invest well against that plan, all with the goal of helping them live well. And so that that is something we're not willing to sacrifice as as the leaders of the organization, that quality focused growth is is really critical. And in the wealth management process, you know, trying to build wealth for people, no matter where you start, it's certainly an important thing that that we plan, invest and live well with our clients. Yeah. And, you know, we said all the time, every segment plan well, invest well, live well. We just take it for granted because that's how you guys roll. But Laurence, that not everyone thinks that way. Your way is kind of different. Tell me about that. It is. You know, we're really unique and you'd think that it would be kind of common sense to have a really personal, deep relationship with your clients in throughout our industry. But that's not necessarily true for every firm. So there's lots of different approaches and that doesn't matter whether it's a small firm or a large firm, but they all have their strengths and weaknesses. But to us, really making sure that we develop that deep and personal understanding of a client's goals so that we can understand and plan for them and make sure that we follow that process to help them live well and achieve their financial life goals. So, Jim, that process kind of bakes it right in this this personal knowledge and so can achieve goals, obviously. Yeah. I mean to your your point on the personal knowledge and the personal connection, I mean, it all starts with trusting. And you know, in our plan well process we really just ask clients to whiteboard- dream a bit, what is it you really want to do? And you know, oftentimes you have to dig that out of people. You know, it's not something they're readily trying to admit. But over time, as you get to know them and you really sort of understand what they're trying to achieve, you push them to sort of think out of the box and how you achieve those goals. And then it's our job, you know, to build the plan to help them achieve it. And, you know, having accountability on both sides. So we think, in a long term basis, we think in a strategic manner. You know, we use words like fiduciary, that means the client's best interest. That's that's where we focus on. And in the end, you know, we become trusting partners to help people live well. Let's talk about you. Let's brag on your team, too. You've got some recognition that is pretty noteworthy. Tell me about it. Well, yeah, thanks Gary we're really proud of that. And we just announced in January that Jim, Leisl Cording and myself, were named once again Five Star wealth managers for 2022. And Mike Baum, who joined our firm last year, you know, watch out, he wasn't eligible this year, but got big hopes for him. Congratulations. Just a bit of housekeeping, too. We do have to mention that the Five Star Award is created by Five Star Professional and the 2022 award was presented in November based on data gathered between February and September of last year. A total of 2950 Connecticut area wealth managers were considered for the award. That's impressive. And 290, just 10% of the candidates were selected to receive it. Wealth managers don't pay a fee to be considered or selected for the award, although they can choose to pay for the use of marketing materials afterwards. The award is not indicative of advisor's future performance and your experience may vary. For more information, go to fivestarprofessional.com. Once again, we got to say congratulations both on the award and congratulations on the new office in Tolland. Sincerely, it's great to see the growth. Jim, anything else we need to know about?
