Welcome to the monthly Market Update on You & Your Money, empowering you to reach your goals with tips and insights to help you Plan Well, Invest Well, and Live Well. This month's market update comes from Leisl Cording, senior vice president and financial advisor at Weiss, Hale & Zahansky Strategic Wealth Advisors. And here's the latest updates in the financial markets. How about a market update, Leisl, what's going on? Oh boy, well, I'll break this down into two sections here. First, I'll talk about the economy. So things we still have pretty sound fundamentals in the economy, job growth remains healthy, and that's driving increases in personal income and spending. So that's that's a good thing, all relative. And business confidence also remains solid with corporate earnings still growing and beating expectations. And so, but we have seen some energy costs have pulled back a bit. We're seeing the housing market is showing some signs of slowing and likely this will have the Fed sort of slow their raising of interest rates. So their policies are working and they have not derailed growth, which is a good thing. But it could mean that we might see some further interest rate increases longer than we had anticipated. So what that means for markets? Well, we did see some some great gains in November in the US, we saw single digits across all of the indices, double-digit gains in international markets and bonds even gained as well. So, while we're seeing some strength in the market, there still are a lot of risks out there. Inflation, could come back. We could see, unfortunately, the conflict in Ukraine if that gets any worse, China's zero covid policy. So there's definitely some risks out there, we'll still see volatility in the markets and turbulence, but we do have some strong economic fundamentals, so, that'll help with the downside risk. But remember, stay focused on longer-term goals, and don't get caught up in the short-term volatility, because it will impact your longer-term success. Good advice, stay focused, think long term. And that's how you get through these these tumultuous times. That's right.
